American Baptist College is under the fraternal supervision of "THE" Brentwood Alumni Chapter. Congratulations Dr. Richards and keep on Achieving! Please tell us your story!

Dr. Travis Richards hails from Nassau, Bahamas, and is a first-generation graduate, poetic scholar, activist, and creative strategy architect. His journey began in Fall 2013 when he left The Bahamas with just $500 and a clear goal—to educate himself and become the best version of himself.
During his time at American Baptist College, he developed a deep passion for social justice and community outreach, shaping the foundation of his academic and professional trajectory. His success multiplied when he joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. in Spring 2017, crossing the burning sands as Kaptain Kastaway Kay. In Spring 2018, he achieved a major milestone by earning his first degree, dedicated to his mother’s legacy.
He then pursued his Master’s in Education, Instructional Leadership at Tennessee State University, graduating in 2020. Taking a bold leap of faith, he became a Program Specialist, teaching K-12 boys about social-emotional learning and the importance of protecting women and girls from domestic violence.
Determined to expand his impact, Dr. Richards pursued a Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice at Loyola Marymount University, completing his degree in Spring 2024. This final academic achievement further ignited his passion for social justice, activism, and research that demands recognition from higher education institutions and government entities.
Now, as Dr. Richards, he intentionally speaks out against prejudice, bias, and racial injustice. Through his research, advocacy, and community engagement, he continues to drive meaningful change and inspire future generations.
